Rejected petition Stop the ludicrous probate fee hike

The government are implementing new rules which could lead to a 9,202% fee hike to obtain probate.
You pay tax on your assets your whole life and are required to pay Inheritance Tax; to then be forced to obtain probate at such ludicrous fees is wholly disproportionate and unfair.
The new fees will be:
£300 for estates worth more than £50,000 and up to £300,000 (40% rise from £215)
- £1,000 for estates worth more than £300,000 and up to £500,000 (365% rise)
- £4,000 for estates worth more than £500,000 and up to £1million (1,760% rise)
- £8,000 for estates worth more than £1million and up to £1.6million (3,621% rise)
- £12,000 for estates worth more than £1.6million and up to £2million (5,481% rise)
- £20,000 for estates worth more than £2million (9,202% rise)
