The NHS is considering withdrawing prescriptions for essential gluten free staples such as bread and gluten free flour. The average cost of a gluten free loaf of equivalent weight is over three times the cost of an ordinary loaf. Avoiding gluten is essential if you have coeliac disease and not a lifestyle choice
