Government has recognised the right of people to be able to identify food which is consistent with their beliefs.

Persons whose concern for animal welfare requires them to avoid meat which was not stunned according to English law, have no less a claim to government respect

The absence of information presents the probability of foodstuffs being misrepresented. People with humanitarian concerns should be confident that products they buy were humanely slaughtered in accordance with English law and welfare standards.
