Closed petition Formally support UN condemnation of the Saudi bloc's demand to close Al Jazeera.

Closed on

A UN High Commissioner has condemned the Saudi-led bloc's demand to close Al Jazeera as an "unacceptable attack on the right to freedom of expression and opinion". The government should explicitly support the UN and oppose the Salman regime's attempt to censor TV channels available in the UK.

The UN High Commissioner is Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein:

It is unacceptable to tolerate Saudi interference in what British audiences should be permitted to watch. The government should issue a formal declaration of support for the UN and unequivocally repudiate such Saudi meddling in our sources of news. It is not for the Saudis to censor our television channels.
