Women spend on average £13 a month on sanitary products. Some women have to chose between food and sanitary products. Women don't make the choice to have a period. It is not a luxury but the government classes it as one.
There is 5% tax on sanitary products. Condoms are given out for free whereas there is a tax on sanitary products. You can choose to abstain from sex but you can't help having a period.
