Rejected petition Legalise biodegradable hemp plastics save our oceans
If you have a regular well balanced diet including seafood it's estimated that 11,000 plastic fragments in our seafood each year. We absorb fewer than 1%, but they will still accumulate in the body over time.
Plastic microfibers are now in the food chain from krill all the way up to blue whales
More details
If something is not done now our oceans will die, it's not too late to clean up our acts, legalising hemp plastics would be a good start cheaper to make and biodegradable the realness of it is if this is not done soon Val children's children will not have the privilege of eating seafood without having health consequences, save out oceans.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Hemp can be grown legally in the UK with a licence from the Home Office and hemp products, such as hemp plastics, can be sold, so we're not sure what further action you'd like the Government or Parliament to take.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking the Government or Parliament to fund a campaign to promote the use of biodegradable hemp packaging.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
