The Scottish Government is planning a new rise in income tax. It already imposes a different threshold for taxation at the higher rate to the rest of the UK. Tax raising powers should be returned to the UK Government to make taxation in Scotland equal.

MPs want to hear your views on devolution in Scotland

A group of MPs called the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) are investigating how well devolution is working in Scotland. They want hear your views. In particular, they want to hear about:

• how well you think the UK and Scottish Parliaments currently work together
• how you think the UK and Scottish Governments could work together better
• how you think the UK and Scottish Parliaments can ensure that Scottish and UK Ministers work together in the best interests of Scotland

What is devolution?

Devolution is the transfer of powers from the UK Parliament to the Scottish Parliament. For example, the Scottish Parliament makes decisions about education and housing in Scotland, but the UK Parliament makes decisions on immigration and consumer rights. What is the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee?

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee looks at constitutional issues and the quality of administration in the Civil Service.
