Petition Stop charging VAT on vet treatments/animal medicinces

So it's just cost me £278 to have a cut stitched, of this £46 was VAT, as this is for medical treatment to animals, why do we have to pay VAT, imagine how much would be charged on a more complicated operation, £20 in every £100
