Rejected petition Introduce recall elections for MPs in the United Kingdom.

In the United States, some states can recall representatives if they aren't fulfilling what they said they were going to do. Recall elections give the electorate a chance to make MPs more accountable and if they go astray from their promises can be replaced.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

There's already a UK law that allows for the recall of MPs in some circumstances. It's called the Recall of MPs Act 2015 and provides for a recall petition to be triggered if an MP is sentenced to a prison term or is suspended from the House for at least 21 sitting days.

If you'd like this law to be changed, you could start a new petition explaining what specific changes you'd like to see.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
