Rejected petition Get rid of all plastic straws to help the environment

Straws are destroying are environment their hard to decompose. Plastic in general is one of main objects that destroys are environment how many times have you seen a plastic bottles, plastic bags scattered on pavements/passages. This is unsafe to the environment we need to be more eco friendly.
Even if getting rid of plastic straws ,is are starter to a safer environment then am all for it. Then perhaps in the furture we could of proguessed into more bans against plastic materials.
Why was this petition rejected?
