Closed Make Puppy farming a criminal offence

A puppy farmer is a breeder who breeds puppies with little or no regard for the health and welfare of the puppies or their parents. Once the puppies are born, they are separated from their mothers at 4 weeks old. After, the bitches are given dangerous injections for them to go back into heat

Health of puppies sold by puppy farmers:
20% of puppies (four times more than the average) bought from pet shops or directly from the internet suffer from parvovirus, an often fatal disease which can cost up to £4,000 to treat (2014 Kennel Club PAW survey).

With no regulations, puppy mills have no cleanup control. This means that dogs can be living in urine and feces for indefinite periods of time.

Puppy mills have no veterinary care, climate control, or protection for the animals from weather
