Rejected petition UNESCO to preserve Kalash community by enlisting it as a World Heritage site.
Pakistan's smallest religious minority, the Kalash speak their own language and celebrate their gods through music, dance ─ and alcohol.
Kalash people are not aware of their rights & people from other areas are occupying their land. Dozens of Kalash people have been forced to change their religion.
More details
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government (Province) has acknowledged that nearly 3,500 inhabitants of the Kalash Valley have had death threats from Taliban militants forcing them to give up their religion and convert. Every person should have the right to live and practice their religion in Pakistan. Development work should be carried out in the area and basic facilities such as healthcare and education should be provided to the community. The syllabus of education should be in the local language.
