Rejected petition Lower train fares for 16-18 year olds.
Under the law, under 18's are not considered as adults so why should ages 16-18 have to pay the same price as an adult ticket although we earn less than an adult wage? The minimum wage is £4.05 per hour for somebody of my age (16) which is barely a child ticket to somewhere only 40 minutes away.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Aged-based transport fares are not set by the UK Government. For buses, local bus companies are free to set their own fares. For trains, the fares are set by train operating companies.
You could start a new petition asking Parliament to change the law, to require all operators to offer child fares or child tickets for anyone under 18.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
