Important:

This petition was submitted during the 2017-2019 parliament

Rejected petition Overturn the decision to release "black-cab rapist" John Worboys from prison.

John Worboys drugged and raped or sexually assaulted more than 100 women, and was given an "indeterminate" sentence in 2009.

A Parole Board has decided to release this man back into society. This is offensive and insensitive to his victims and endangers women who may become future victims.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

This isn't something that the UK Government and Parliament can do.

Decisions about releasing prisoners into the community are taken by the Parole Board, which is independent. The Government and Parliament can't change the Parole Board's decision.

You can find out more about the Parole Board, and read its statement about this decision, here:

The Chair of the Justice Committee, the group of MPs that looks at the work of the Ministry of Justice, has said that he is going to recommend that the Committee asks the Chair of the Parole Board to give evidence about what has happened.
