Closed petition Compulsary Subsidised Swimming Lessons for Children (ages 3-10 years) in the UK.

Closed on

Compulsory Swimming Lessons for Children up to the age of 10 in the UK is paramount in fighting the UK’s battle against accidental drownings.
“Taking part in in formal swimming lessons reduces the risk of drowning among children aged 1 to 4 years” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016)

Latest figures from the National Water Safety Forum (NWSF) show that 300 people died in accidental drownings in the UK last year.
The number of people aged 19 and under who drowned in the UK has risen by 25 per cent (Local Government Association 2017, National Water Safety, 2017)
Water Safety and Rescue Techniques combined with taught sessions will reduce the rate of accidental deaths due to drowning, and promote a deeper understanding at an early age of the risks associsated with Water Safety
