Closed petition Rule that freeholders must cover safety related costs of their buildings

Closed on

On June 14 2017, 71 people saw there lives cut short after the Grenfell Tower was destroyed by fire, and all survivors have seen their lives hopelessly changed. The same type of cladding, which played a key role in the tragedy by allowing the fire to spread, has been found on more than 250 blocks.

Leaseholders of many private blocks are being charged for all implemented measures, even though Sajid Javid, DCLG Secretary urged owners/management companies not to do so. Replacement works worth £millions won't start until funds are in place, endangering lives.

Let’s join together to ask Government to rule formally that freeholders are responsible for costs of ensuring the safety of our buildings and provide economic support to guarantee prompt implementation of whatever measures needed.
