Many farm animals are prevented from moving by tethering to stanchions in sheds, tie stalls and "zero grazing" systems for dairy cattle - and rarely or never letting them outside. Pigs are given no space to move in tiny "sow stalls" ; chickens by so many being in one shed they can barely move.
