Closed petition All places of Religious Worship pay business rates or council tax
Closed on
Currently all places of Religious worship are exempt from paying council tax and business rates.
These places use the services which the rest of the country pay for.
So why do they not have to contribute towards them when everyone else does.
Approximately 17% of the country are Aethist and therefore do not use these places yet are expected to pay for them. A much higher proportion are non-active and also do not use these places.
These places also have an income from weddings, christenings and other services so there is no good reason for them not to pay business rates or council tax.
