Petula Clark has been in show business as a child and singing star since 1942,and a European star since 1957 and International star since Downtown topped the American charts in 1965.,not to mention her charity work for UNICEF,AIDS,and other charities .

I present nostalgia programmes on an award winning wireless station (Angel Radio) and have often mentioned this lack of a Damehood for Petula Clark. Every such comment has resulted in numerous e.mails, letters and phone calls in agreement. People have said it could be because she lives abroad - this is nonsense as many other recipients do not reside in the UK
