Allowing on call and volunteer emergency personnel to use green flashing lights would make them more noticeable to other vehicles. This would help minimise delays while they are trying to get to their respective station. Delays cost lives!

Green flashing lights can currently be used by doctors. These lights don't give any exemption to traffic laws, but do highlight the importance of the journey. This means that vehicles are more likely to let them past than if they had no lighting.
