Closed change the law for people who commit animal cruelty to be sentenced up to 5yrs

Social media is rife everyday with animal abuse stories, videos or photos. The sentences are not tough enough and do not act as any deterrent. Also there is nothing in place to make sure offenders do not re-offend. I want the gov to change the law to a max of 5 yrs by the end of this year.

My prev petition was not clear enough. The government has announced plans to increase the max sentence to 5 years but i would like to see this happening by the end of this year at the latest.
