Rejected petition Regulate estate agents and private landlords from charging over priced rent

Over the past 6 years I have seen the average price to rent a property skyrocket from £875 to £1700 per calendar month and that is just in the London Borough of Croydon, an area plagued by knife crime however we are forced to pay more then the average salary after tax to live here.

A high percentage of properties which are marketed for rental are not even fit for purpose with many suffering from conditions such as damp but are still marketed as being in immaculate condition.

Something needs to be done to protect the public from going bankrupt just to keep a roof over their heads.
