Closed petition Put young offenders in prison for knife crime

The law for sentencing needs to be updated. People convicted of crimes involving knives should go to prison no matter what their age. They should not be allowed out on the streets if found guilty.

There was a case recently where the defendant was under 18 and pleaded guilty to stabbing someone. There was also video evidence that the defendant had broken his court bail conditions. He just got reminded of his bail conditions - nothing else. He wasn’t sentenced to prison, even though he could have killed someone.
