There is a national crises. Volumes of emergencies have increased rapidly in the last 5 years. Speed is the key to solving crimes and there is the "golden hour" which is often missed causing loss of evidence resulting in not finding perpetrators.

Figures obtained from the BBC Police under pressure programme on 16th May 2018. Police themselves are under threat from organised gangs who are aware of police limitations. There have been 23,000 assaults on officers in 2014/15 alone. Not all assaults get reported. The rate of physical assault against police officers being almost 12 times the "all occupations" rate. Cracks are now beginning to show, increasing amounts of risk to public safety because there are less and less officers and staff.
