It is the use of Banisteriopsis caapi.
A brew of B. caapi & P. viridis is the traditional South American brew. The caapi is particularly important as traditionally the caapi itself is considered to be “ayahuasca” while the DMT-containing plants are simply helpers.

Ayahuasca, also known as yage, is a blend of two plants - the ayahuasca vine and a shrub called chacruna (Psychotria viridis)
