Closed petition Keep British Summer Time (BST) all year round in UK
Closed on
British Summer Time (BST or Daylight Saving Time - DST) is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The UK has BST from late March to late October. With BST there are lighter evenings, darker mornings, but lighter afternoons, greater happiness, fewer accidents and increased productivity
BST all year would:
> save energy;
> prevent accidents (lighter evenings - see https://www.rospa.com/road-safety/advice/road-users/british-summertime-fact-sheet/);
> promote outdoor leisure activity;
> be good for the economy; and
> “save almost 500,000 tonnes of CO2 each year, equivalent to taking 185,000 cars off the road permanently”
> greatly reduce the number of fatalities on Britain's roads (https://1010uk.org/lighterlater); and
> overall lead to greater happiness.
