Closed petition Make GI labels on foods in stores and restaurant menus a requirement

Closed on

I suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, as 1 in 8 women do across the country. The chronic illness that I have involves a symptom called Insulin Resistance which involves a very restrictive Low GI diet and exercise routine in order to keep manageable. The illness is linked with Type 2 diabetes.

Last year alone, 3.7 million people in the UK were diagnosed with diabetes and it's estimated to rise to 5 million by 2025 if nothing changes. Food is our medicine when it comes to PCOS so I feel like the GI levels being printed on food will help lower the diabetes diagnosis rates in the UK. This is already a requirement in Austriallia: https://www.gisymbol.com/reading-food-labels/
