Rejected petition Review childcare allowances for working parents.
The government needs to review the current allowances for working parents. Most working couples get no help before their children are three, whereas those who are not at work get allowances from two years old and they also receive more hours when their children turn three.
More details
More needs to be done to help working parents with childcare. It’s almost impossible for a mother to go back to full time work after maternity as childcare costs usually outweigh wages forcing more mothers to claim benefits. With the rising cost of living this is not sustainable if the government expects those on regular wages to be able to afford to live.
