The world is seeing a rise in disturbing trends of extremism in society that seek to create a fear, suspicion and hate towards Muslims masked under the guise of freedom of expression, nationalism and patriotism.

Early 20th century anti-Semitic propaganda of the Nazis sought to control the news and information to the people that ultimately resulted in the expulsion and mass murder of millions of Jews in Europe. In the current climate powerful groups of people and individuals have been emboldened by a belief that it is their right to offend, ridicule and target an entire faith community (Islam and Muslims), by creating a climate of fear and suspicion under the guise of freedom of speech and expression.
