Rejected petition Class diverticulitis disease as a disability

My mom suffers with a disease called diverticulitis which is not recognised as a disability ( as of yet) even though it has majorly disrupted and disabled her daily life and continues to do so every day and does for so many others also.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Laws and policies, including the Equality Act, don't list specific conditions and define them as disabilities. In most cases, it’s the impact that a health condition has on the person’s life that qualifies them for support or protection under the law.

You can find out more about showing that you're disabled under the Equality Act here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do to support people who are suffering from diverticulitis.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
