Rejected petition Declare a National Day of mourning if the UK leaves the EU at end of March 2019.

Rejected on

The Conservative Party will take the UK out of the European Union unless Parliament or a People's Vote prevents it. PM Theresa May has no mandate to do so after General Election 2019. This does not represent the People's wishes and leaving the EU is contrary to the views of the majority in the UK.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you would like an official day or event to express regret at the UK leaving the European Union. However, national days of mourning are about the death of a person or people.

You could start a new petition setting out clearly what day or event you would like the UK Government to organise.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
