Closed petition Diagnosed mental health patients should receive free prescriptions

Closed on

Without medication mental health patients can die, they are three times more likely to develop additional physical problems such as diabetes, heart disease and addictions, all of which can reduce life expectancy.

Mental illness is considered a disability, question behaviour, whether stable and/or taking medication.
Mind organisation have already researched the definition and terms of disability in conjunction with the Equality Act, 2010. Mental health is included.
Diagnosed mental health problems should qualify an individual for free prescriptions in the same way as some medical conditions and physical disabilities.
