Closed petition Keep grants for plug-in hybrid & electric cars at their current levels or above
Closed on
Sales of electric cars are starting to take off, but government action could stop it in its tracks. From 12 November onwards, the government will drop cash incentives even for the greenest plug-in hybrid cars. More seriously, the discount on full-electric vehicles will be cut from £4500 to £3500.
This action suggests the government doesn't care about the environment or encouraging adoption of low- and zero-emission vehicles.
Nicholas Lyes from the RAC said the move was “a major blow to anyone hoping to go green with their next vehicle”.
The AA's Jack Cousens: "This announcement will simply put more drivers off from buying greener cars."
