Closed Make paying rent enough proof that you are able to meet mortgage repayments!

Me and my husband are hoping to buy a house! Which is going to be a difficult process!
We have been renting for 3+ years
Never once defaulted on our rent payments we have paid around £20000 in rent payments! Why is this not considered when apply for a mortgage!

they still solely look at your income! When on paper you are paying a high figure for rent each month, which would indicate you are able to meet a payment for your own home!
