Closed petition Make PE mandatory for a minimum of 2-hours per week in primary schools.
Closed on
The government only supply a recommendation of 2-hours PE per week. Although some primary schools follow this, I have seen first hand that this is inconsistent across the country. Physical activity in young people has been shown to have a strong influence on physical, mental and social wellbeing.
So why is it still acceptable to neglect PE? - considering the current climate of health.
1. A third of children aged 2-15 are overweight or obese.
2. Children that are obese are more likely to be living with conditions like depression.
3. More children are suffering from diagnosed stress and anxiety than ever before.
