Rejected petition A36 between Standerwick & Warminster Services to be re-designed for road safety.
This section of road has historically been known as a stretch of road notorious for accidents and near misses, with the road closing frequently due to collisions and deaths over the years; most recently 3 fatalities occurred just before Christmas. The traffic management of this road needs reviewing.
More details
Highways England state the road "meets current standards" & "cannot justify reducing the speed limit or installing other measures" (relating to Black Dog Hill), citing "only one accident" is known to them since April '18, which is incorrect. The issue lies with the data held; Highways England will only action change on the road if there is data states a change is required by law, but the data is proven to be incorrect. When will this issue be taken seriously & how many more deaths need to occur?

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We can't accept your petition because we are unsure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
We understand that you are concerned about road safety on the A36 but we are not sure what you mean by "re-designed for road safety."
You could start a new petition setting out the measures you would like to see happen. For example, you could petition for the speed limits to be reduced if that is something you would like to see happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
