Closed Change the law to ensure trusts benefit the people they were intended to

My niece is wheelchair bound with multiple health issues. Neither she nor her main carer can access the trust fund that was set up 15 years ago to secure her future. Yet because of the trust fund, she isn’t entitled to other support. Attempts to get the wording of the trust changed have failed.

The law should be changed so that no-one in this position is unable to get the support they need. A court should be able to change the wording of a trust fund to ensure it benefits the person it was intended to. Where that isn’t possible the Government should change its rules to ensure that no-one loses out on support they would otherwise be entitled to
