Closed petition Implement a register for domestic violence, stalking and harassment perpetrators
Closed on
I am petitioning to ask for your help urgently. This issue concerns me hugely as a survivor myself. I nearly died last year as a result of a continued case of domestic violence over an 8 year period. A register needs to be available to safeguard victims and track, monitor and manage perpetrators.
Victims are forced to flee their homes and disappear to stay safe. They should be able to rebuild their lives at home with support. An average of more than 400 referrals to refuges in England in 2016/2017 were declined each week. If victims were more protected and able to stay in their own homes these figures would drop. Offenders should be the ones who are tracked, supervised and managed and not the victim. A register may also act as a deterrent.
