Closed petition Mary-Jayne's Law - New Attendance Policy in Schools for the physically impaired
Closed on
Schools need to have a separate policy for attendance to those children who require medical treatment daily. My daughter has asthma & on her very bad days she is lifeless. Schools need to recognise they are discriminating against the physically impaired with daily medical needs on attendance issues.
Thousands of children are hospitalised yearly with their asthma. This brings their attendance rates into question with schools because they are being measured against normal healthy children, despite the parents having explained their medical condition and physical impairment, putting pressure on both the parents and the child. Schools recognise children with Special educational needs it is now time to do the same with medical conditions and adjust their policies accordingly.
