This petition was submitted during the 2017–2019 Conservative government

Rejected petition Remove MP's from their position who voted different to constituents on brexit.

We believe that MP's that voted against their constituents should be forced to step down as MP for that area. 17.4 million people voted to leave the EU and our MP's should have respected their constituents voices.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

The UK Government and Parliament are not responsible for removing MPs from office due to their views or opinions.

How an MP votes would be an individual decision for that person, and not a decision for the Government or Parliament as a whole.

You could ask your own MP to vote according to the result of referendum in your constituency. You can find out who your MP is and how to contact them here:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
