Rejected petition Put Marina Hyde in charge of Brexit.

Over the last three years, Guardian columnist Marina Hyde has made more sense on Brexit than all 650 MPs combined. As I understand it, Marina doesn't have much experience of international negotiations, or of running a country, but hey, she couldn't do worse than the current lot.

See, for example: "For Theresa May, 'I'm a tin-eared lunatic' seems to be the hardest word", Guardian, 23 March 2019. I rest my case.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about honours or appointments.

We can't accept petitions about honours and appointments.

In any case, as you might already know, the Prime Minister of the UK is not chosen by the UK Government or Parliament.

After a general election, the Queen decides who to invite to form a Government. In practice, this is usually the leader of the political party that wins the most seats in a general election. You can find out more about this here:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
