Government should introduce legislation preventing petrol stations and motorway service stations from charging motorists to use windscreen water and tyre air supply facilities.

Clear driver vision and correctly inflated tyres are safety critical items and motorists should not be in a position where they cannot ensure their vehicle remains roadworthy at all times of their journey as a result of not having cash available at the time.

Motorists are being exploited by garages charging up to £2 to use the facility.
