We had never heard of this illness until a family member was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder in 2017. This illness comes in various forms with the brain linking all of them. Most of the research into this illness is done in the USA with little done in the U K.

FND friend's is a group set up in Bristol so that people with this illness can meet and compare ways of living with the illness, they are mainly self-funded and rely on donations to keep going. It would seem that up to 25 percent of patients that go through a Neurology department will end up being diagnosed with FND and not understand what it is or what they are dealing with, they then get accused of faking the illness.
