Closed petition Supermarkets to be required by law to provide special needs shopping trolleys.

Closed on

As a parent of a child with additional needs & autism, shopping trips are often made difficult & hazardous through the lack of adapted / special needs shopping trolleys in store. I feel it should be law that all supermarkets must have at least one adapted trolley per store.

The Equality Act 2010 requires for reasonable adjustments to be made for disabled people & that barriers faced due to disability should be addressed via positive steps by the shop etc. Currently, stores only act on request from customers and often refuse on cost. This action leads to parents of disabled children being unfairly discriminated against in being unable to shop safely in store and / or creates a barrier which could otherwise be removed with an adapted trolley.
