Closed Make prescription drugs for chronic illnesses free

Currently, many people pay prescription charges for chronic (lifelong) illnesses. This is essentially a lifelong tax for being unwell in some way. This is unfairly targeting those with imperfect health. The current system unfairly ranks certain illnesses above others for no apparent reason.

HIV is a virus that requires constant medication to manage. It is unacceptable that some may be forced to miss doses due to prescription charges [1]. I myself have ADPKD-induced hypertension which means my heart rate is elevated and as such needs daily medication to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.
