Closed petition Police Training & Longterm Mental Health Support For Those Bereaved By Suicide.
Closed on
Aims:
1. For police and authorities to be trained, have a clear plan in place and information available when someone is bereaved by suicide.
2. For a support worker to be dispatched to any home that has lost someone to suicide and to help assess the situation and support the family.
This is what people have said about their support after losing someone to suicide:
"I have support now but I wish it was available all those years ago, as I have really struggled to cope"
"No support made me feel that my upset and distress wasn't valid and I took an attempt on my life"
"I had to argue a lot to get access to a bereavement support group, they told me it was too early and most people wait a year"
"It made it harder because I didn't know how to do it myself"
