Important:

This petition was submitted during the 2017-2019 parliament

Rejected petition petrol/diesel price rises just before Bank Holidays and school holidays.

Over the last three weeks petrol has risen in my area by as much as 8p per litre and seems to be still rising DAILY not weekly. The fuel price has risen at an alarmingly quick rate when "required" by these companies but falls back VERY slowly when barrel prices drop to suit their profits.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Petrol prices are set by retailers.

You could start a petition asking the Government to reduce or remove fuel duty, or to set a cap on fuel prices, if that is what you would like to see happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
