Closed petition Reduce the period parking companies have to chase tickets from 6 to 1 year.

Currently, private parking companies have 6 years to persue motorists who, they alledge, have breached the terms of parking a vehicle in car parks they own or manage.

We feel this period should be reduced to 12 months from the date the alledged event took place.

The 6 year period is not to persue unpaid monies within the courts system, it is the period they have available to them before they actually write to the registered keeper asking for payment under threat of litigation.

We feel this is wholly unreasonable, given that motorists will probably not have the original parking ticket, may have moved or even sold the vehicle.
