Rejected petition Regular Visitation rights for aunts/uncles and grandparents.

When a child stops seeing a close family member they develop anxiety at an early age which is not healthy and disturbs the way a child develops throughout their childhood, I am hoping to change the rights of visitation for other family members.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

The family courts, which are independent of the UK Parliament and Government, are responsible for making decisions on visitation.

In any case, the family court already recognises that it may be in the best interests of a child to have contact with extended family members such as grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins, so we're not sure what specific action you'd like the Government or Parliament to take.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking Parliament or Government to change the law so that grandparents, aunts and uncles can apply for contact without needing the leave of the court.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
