Rejected petition Criminalise Australians leaving the UK after marrying a British national.
It should be made unlawful for an Australian to have the freedom to come to the UK, marry a British national, have children and then decide to return to Australia for a better life. Once you're in, you're in.

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We can't accept your petition because, under international law, everyone has the right to return to their home country. The UK Government cannot make it a criminal offence for someone to return to their country of origin or citizenship.
The family courts can sometimes enforce child maintenance decisions if an ex-partner lives in a country, such as Australia, that has a reciprocal arrangement with the UK. You can find out more here:
